Ruins of the Castle in Tworków

The history of the castle dates back to the Middle Ages...

The former seat of the Tworkowski, Reiswitz and Eichendorff families was purchased in 1841 by the von Saurma-Jeltsch family. In 1872 the residence underwent a major redevelopment that gave the castle a neo-Renaissance character. Numerous towers, facades and bays, together with the built-in clock tower, gave the building an attractive and unique appearance. A fire in 1931 marked the end of the castle's splendour, and its destruction was completed by warfare in April 1945.

In 2003, the building was taken over by the Krzyżanowice Commune, preventing its further devastation. Since then, work has been carried out here in order to secure the ruins while ensuring their proper exposure. A two-storey open space will be built in the former coach house and a viewing platform will be integrated into the existing castle tower.
