The Route of Observation Towers and Vantage Points in Euroregion Silesia

The concept of “The Route of Observation Towers and Vantage  Points in Euroregion Silesia” was developed during work on the "Development Strategy for Euroregion Silesia 2014-2020”. It was decided to design a tourist product promoting the highlights and attractions of the Euroregion Silesia, with the use of both existing and planned towers, buildings and vantage points. Eventually, it will include more than 30 sites, and already today we can admire and take advantage of some of them.

The highest vantage point so far is located in the Town Hall tower in Głubczyce. The Głubczyce Town Hall, dating back to the 13th century, was completely destroyed in 1945. In 2006-2008 it was reconstructed from scratch and the 33-meter high tower is one of its characteristic elements. Another vantage point available in an existing building is the observation tower in Włodzienin. The tower is a remnant of the Gothic castle church, which was completely destroyed during the last war. From there you can admire the picturesque Głubczyce Plateau, the church towers in Glubczyce and even the town of Jeseníky in the Czech Republic. The newly constructed observation tower is located at the Odra River Border Meanders in Chałupki. It is over 27 metres high and there are 114 steel stairs leading to its top. On the way up, you go past two platforms; the second one, on the very top, is roofed. From above you can admire the view, not only of the picturesque meandering Odra River. Yet another natural vantage point is the observation tower in the Moravian Gate Arboretum in Racibórz. It is located on a slope above the "Enchanted Garden". From the tower, you can admire a beautiful hedge maze. Looking from the top, you can see its characteristic shape of a flower with five petals, looking different each season of the year. The Mszana observation tower has a unique character. While visiting this two-level platform, you can learn the history of mines currently or formerly operating in the commune’s vicinity. On the first level there are boards presenting the history of mining, while on the second level of the platform visitors can follow 6 direction boards with photos and a description of the mines. Another interesting observation facility is the vantage point in Pogrzebień. From this original construction, visitors can admire the Opawskie Mountains, the Moravian-Silesian Beskids and the Silesian Beskids. From here you can also see the entire Odra Valley with villages belonging to the following communes: Lubomia, Krzyżanowice, Racibórz and Krzanowice.

The currently developed "Route of Observation Towers and Vantage Points of the Euroregion Silesia" already seems to be a very interesting and promising way of presenting tourist attractions in this part of Silesia.
